The new implementation timeline
Although the process has undergone adjustments to ensure an efficient transition, the objective remains firm. According to the current roadmap, B2B e-invoicing will be mandatory from 1 September 2026.
The rollout will take place in two main phases to facilitate the adaptation of the entire business landscape:
- 1 September 2026: This is the critical date. From this day onwards, all companies, without exception, must be capable of receiving e-invoices. Furthermore, large and medium-sized enterprises will also be obliged to issue them.
- 1 September 2027: A year later, the issuing requirement will be extended to all other taxpayers, affecting small and micro-enterprises.
It is important to note that there is the possibility of an additional three-month technical extension if necessary, but the recommendation is clear: do not wait until the deadline.
